The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City yesterday resumed its environmental, recreational and sports initiatives, branded as ’Smile Convoy’, at Al Maqtaa following the successful completion of the previous phase of the Convoy held at Old Al Shahama Park.
The event comes as part of a social, sports, educational and awareness initiative launched by the Municipality that will last until December 2012 covering all parks outside Abu Dhabi Island.
Dr. Badriya Al Dhahri, Director of Community Services at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, confirmed that the resumption of the Smile Convoy drive came in the wake of the success achieved in phase 1, as the various events received a positive public response and attracted considerable numbers of community members thanks to the diversity of the activities and events particularly those oriented towards children and families; which nurtured a safe and attractive environment featuring all safety and health standards for practicing heritage, sports and entertainment activities and competitions.
"The Municipality is keen on diversifying sources of entertainment ’&’ competitions, providing all types of activities, and showcasing the features ’&’ the indigenous heritage aspects of the UAE community, where Arabian camels and purebred horses shows are held. The Community Services Division, in collaboration with the strategic partners and the initiative sponsors, has provided many entertainment options for children including the soapy pitch, inflatable bouncers, and safe ’&’ limited-speed motorbikes, besides many interactive activities that involve the participation of all community spectrums," he added.
