Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a top-tier Islamic financial services institution, announced today the appointment of Arif Usmani as the Global Head of ADIB’s Wholesale Banking business.

Arif is a leading global banker with over 30 years of diverse banking experience across several geographies and disciplines. He has extensive experience in risk management, corporate relationship banking and franchise management. At ADIB, he will lead a world-class team and drive the growth of its wholesale banking group by building on its track record of innovation and banking excellence.

Prior to joining ADIB, Arif was Managing Director & Country Officer at Citibank Pakistan, responsible for corporate and investment banking as well as commercial and consumer businesses. Earlier, he was Chief Risk Officer of the Samba Financial Group in Saudi Arabia where he was Chairman of the bank’s Credit and Market Risk Policy committees and a key member of the team that led the transition of Samba after Citi’s departure from the Kingdom. Arif has also worked in leadership positions with Citibank in various countries including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Slovakia and Nigeria.

Arif graduated in 1980 with a First Class B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematical Physics from the Imperial College of Science & Technology, University of London and is also an Associate of the Royal College of Science (ARCS).
