Abu Dhabi In-flight Catering Company (ADIFC) today announced the company’s performance for 2010, recording 17.4% increase in production compared with 2009.
This was mainly achieved due to the traffic growth witnessed at Abu Dhabi International Airport with the increased number of airlines, flight frequencies and destinations served at eth at the capital’s airport.Throughout the year, ADIFC, wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) produced an average of 24,000 meals per day, reaching a total of 8.763 million meals, a 17.4% increase from 2009. By the end of 2010, the company had catered to a total of 49,649 flights.
ADIFC supplies more than 50 airlines and provides cuisine services to several hotels and premium lounges across the emirate. Production rates reached an all-time high in November during the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit, when ADIFC produced over 33,000 airline meals in one day with an additional 40 tonnes of food supplied to external customers, in the hospitality industry, over the course of the 3 day event.

ADIFC expansion plans will increase the company’s design capacity from 28,000 meals per day to 62,000 meals per day. These plans will include the expansion of the cold storage space, loading bays, dishwashing capacity, food preparation and cold kitchen areas as well as providing more space for staff transportation, staff changing rooms and canteen facilities to accommodate the growing workforce.
Established in 1982, ADIFC was listed as a separate subsidiary company of Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) in January 2008. ADIFC has claimed various local and international prestigious awards throughout the years, such as the IATA In-flight Catering Quality Assurance Gold and Bronze Awards for the Europe/ME/Africa region in 2008 and 2009 and the first place in the Liwa Date Festival Epicurean challenge in 2009, to name a few.
