Earth Hour is a global event organized by World Wildlife Fund and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. This event is people driven and completely voluntary.
Earth Hour Abu Dhabi 2011
ADAC is proud to be an active participant of Earth Hour 2011, in continued support of sustainability and environmental initiatives. Our vision is to be the world’s leading airports group and a key part of this is to honour our corporate social responsibility.
Management has committed to support this initiative by switching off the lights on the second runway at Abu Dhabi International Airport for one hour, between 8.30pm and 9.30pm, as well as dimming or switching off non essential lighting in the terminal buildings, management offices and other selected locations across ADAC’s family of five airports.
Passengers’ safety and security is our ultimate priority, and the airport will remain fully operational. There will be no impact on departing or arriving flights during the Earth Hour activities. The reduction of lighting at the selected facilities will be done in accordance and full compliance with international aviation standards.
