Abu Dhabi top selling market for BMW Group Middle East with record sales in first half of 2012
(10 July 2012)

Abu Dhabi Motors has maintained its leading position as the best performing BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce dealer in the Middle East for the first six months of 2012.

The most successful first half in Abu Dhabi Motors’ history, the BMW Group importer and sole Rolls-Royce dealer in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain registered a 39% growth in BMW and MINI sales, and a 24% increase for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars compared to the same period last year.

Testament to the strength of the Abu Dhabi market, these figures highlight the high demand for BMW Group vehicles and the importance of the importer’s superlative investment earlier this year when it launched the world’s largest BMW Group showroom and after-sales facility to cater for the brands’ ongoing growth.

Commenting on the sales growth, Arno Husselmann, General Manager of Abu Dhabi Motors, said: "We started the year well with the opening of the world’s biggest BMW Group showroom facility to cater for the ongoing growth of the BMW Group brands in the Capital. Operating in a dynamic industry such as Abu Dhabi where customer expectations continue to evolve and get higher means that we have to plan with meticulous attention to detail in order to exceed all expectations which includes continued investment in our facilities and staff. It is with great pleasure that we can now say that our investments have supported our customer satisfaction objectives as well as increased our market share."

Sales for BMW grew by 39% with a record 3,131 cars delivered to customers. This figure was boosted by a surge in sales for BMW’s Sports Activity Vehicle, the BMW X5 , which witnessed a 307% sales increase (1,585 cars), followed by the popular BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupé (564 cars). The recently launched BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé - the brand’s first four door Coupé, has proved extremely popular and the first three month’s allocation are sold out. The new BMW M5 is also setting new sales records due to its exceptional performance capabilities.

Another area of the BMW brand that saw substantial growth for the importer was BMW Premium Selection, the company’s approved pre-owned vehicle programme with a 7% increase in sales.

The MINI brand also continues to grow with 126 cars sold during the first half of the year, an increase of 21% and an impressive achievement when operating in a market that predominantly favours large, luxury vehicles. A contributing factor to these outstanding results is the addition of the brand’s newest family member, the all-new MINI Roadster - the first open-top two-seater MINI.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars continue to exceed expectations in the Capital with a 24% sales increase in the first half of 2012. Not only was Abu Dhabi Motors the best performer in terms of Rolls-Royce Bespoke cars in the Middle East, but it also achieved the highest Rolls-Royce sales across the region.

The first half sales success is another string to Abu Dhabi Motors’ bow, following outstanding customer satisfaction rates and several best in world accolades from Rolls-Royce, including Regional Dealer of the Year, best Aftersales dealer in the world and top-selling Rolls-Royce dealer in the world.

In a further effort towards achieving even greater customer satisfaction and to cater for the rapid demand for BMW Group cars in the region, Abu Dhabi Motors’ after-sales facility in Mussafah is currently undergoing a renovation that includes enlarging its award-winning body shop.
