ADNEC welcomes first edition of Piscine Middle East
(21 April 2012)

ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre) is preparing to welcome the first-ever Piscine Middle East, the region’s instalment of the world’s leading pool and spa exhibition organised by GL events. Piscine Middle East is the second first-time exhibition to come to ADNEC this year after the Abu Dhabi International Sports Exhibition (ADISE) last week and following 14 new exhibitions in 2011.

"The addition of Piscine Middle East to ADNEC’s events calendar during the same period as Cityscape Abu Dhabi and World Eco-construct will benefit both exhibitors and visitors equally with great potential for crossover business. We continue to see a positive trend in the number of event bookings, whether exhibitions, conferences or special events, and we will continue to reach out to new sectors of strategic importance to the Abu Dhabi 2030 vision." said Humaid Al Dhaheri, ADNEC’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. "We hope the success of Piscine Middle East will encourage GL events to bring other regionally relevant events to ADNEC in the future."

With 60 international exhibitors confirmed for the first edition of Piscine Middle East, the exhibition will showcase a high quality range of swimming pools, spa products and services to specifiers and buyers in the MENA and West Asia. The event is the first at ADNEC staged by GL events, a large and rapidly growing events company with more than 250 trade and public fairs and 2011 revenues in excess of €787 million.

Mrs Noemi Petit, show director for GL Events Exhibitions, said:"The exhibitors participating in Piscine Middle East are leaders in the pool and spa industry. The region has seen a massive shift to a focus on well-being experiences, which grows the already well-established market for pool and spa equipment and facilities. The UAE in itself has become a phenomenon for the sector."

Estimates place the international pool and spa industry’s annual turnover at around $10bn.

Taking place in the immediate vicinity of both Cityscape Abu Dhabi and World Eco-construct, all running 22-25 April, Piscine Middle East will provide the pool and spa ingredient to the real estate-focused week at ADNEC, attracting developers, government departments, master planners, architects, contractors and consultants.

Cityscape Abu Dhabi is the capital’s premier event for the real estate industry and acts as a platform for introducing projects, discussing issues, as well as a meeting point for peers, investors, and government agencies. The event is joined by World Eco-construct, an international exhibition focusing on sustainable design and construction for the built environment. ADNEC staged 64 events and received over 125,000 visitors in Q1 2012. It also hosted the World Ophthalmology Congress the largest-ever congress hosted in the UAE Capital which attracted more than 10,000 people, as well as Tawdheef, The Abu Dhabi Book Fare and The Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition.

At the end of September, ADNEC will host Abu Dhabi’s second largest congress, the 18th World Routes Development Forum - the first time the event has ever returned to a host city. In November, the UFI Annual Congress, the global association for the exhibitions industry comes to ADNEC and to the Arabian Gulf for the first time. These important international congresses signal Abu Dhabi and ADNEC’s strength as a host destination, and its ability to mobilise support for events from across sectors and government departments.
