Etihad Airways Brings Table-Topping Club Captains Together
(25 March 2012)

Etihad Airways, lead sponsor of Manchester City Football Club and Harlequins Rugby Club, has brought the two “table-topping” club captains together to share thoughts and ideas as they head towards the climax of the 2011/12 season.

Manchester City currently leads the Barclays Premier League and Harlequins are at the summit of the Aviva Premiership in England, with only a handful of matches remaining in each competition.

Vincent Kompany, Manchester City captain, and Chris Robshaw, Harlequins and England captain, were both delighted to meet each other for the first time and take part in a special photo shoot at City’s Carrington Training ground in Manchester.

Vincent Kompany said: “I’ve got huge respect for rugby players as it’s a tough sport and it was great to spend time with Chris. Like City, Quins have been battling for first place in their league all season so we’re wishing the players and management the best of luck for the final stages.”

Chris Robshaw said: “I have seen Vincent play in the Premier League so it was great to finally meet him. It was fascinating to hear his ideas on team leadership which I’ll take back to Harlequins and share with the boys.”

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Etihad Airways has the unique role of being lead sponsor for the top rugby and football teams in England, which means a great opportunity and optimal synergies for our respective brands.

“With only a couple of months left in the season, we have been cheering them both on to win their leagues and were thrilled to bring Vincent and Chris together.”
