Abu Dhabi International Airport has been ranked ‘2nd Best Service Provider’ in the Middle East Region for the second year in a row, by the Annual Airports Council International (ACI) ASQ passenger satisfaction survey - a key benchmark for standards in customer service in the global airports’ industry.
Along with the overall high quality of airport services and facilities, the report published by ACI showed that the Abu Dhabi International Airport excelled in categories that demonstrate overall satisfaction of departing passengers.
Eng. Ahmad Al Haddabi, Chief Operating Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports Company commented: "We are honored to have received this outstanding recognition for the second year running. The ASQ Awards have a real importance to us since the passengers actually decide on the winners, ranking Abu Dhabi International Airport once again as the 2nd best airport in the Middle East. This recognition marks the airport’s success during one of its most difficult years, 2011, as it carried out the Terminal 1 refurbishment and yet still maintained full operation while keeping high end service quality."
In 2011, Terminal 1 went through extensive refurbishment works which was designed to expand its passenger handling capacity and ensure the delivery of quality service and experience across the airport. During the construction works, the project was carefully undertaken while maintaining quality service in all its offerings which is reflected in the results of the survey.
The ASQ Survey is part of ACI’s Airport Service Quality Initiative - a global initiative to improve the passenger experience at airports worldwide. In 2011, over 350,000 passengers were interviewed prior to boarding their flight and asked to rate their satisfaction with the airport that day. To be eligible for the annual ASQ awards, an airport must have participated in the ASQ Survey every month of the year. Abu Dhabi International Airport scored an overall rating of 4.31.
"This award is a credit to the many people within the airport community working hard to make every passenger’s journey better than the last one, and to provide the excellent travel experience we know our passengers expect. ADAC would like to take this opportunity and thank all stakeholders at the airport from Airport Police, immigration, customs and Etihad Airways among others for their continuous commitment to work together towards high end services to all passengers at Abu Dhabi International Airport. We look forward to next year’s survey results as we strive to deliver our vision to be one of the world’s leading airports," concluded Al Haddabi.
