“Improving energy efficiency is a critical step in optimizing operations, reducing demand and lowering waste,” said Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO of Masdar. “C3 delivers a cutting-edge, energy and emissions management solution that will further ourgoal of producing renewable energy, developing a world-class sustainable urban development and implementing carbon reduction projects globally.”

The first phase of the C3 implementation has been completed, providing Masdar the ability to track all aspects of resource use across Masdar City – the low-carbon, low-waste city. Thissystemincludes monitoring and managing energy production and consumption, transportation efficiency, waste production and recycling, and water usage. The C3 analysis confirms that Masdar City’s residential buildings are highly efficient, with a 56 percent reduction in electricity demand versus the ASHRAE 90.1-2004 standard, and a 70 percent reduction versus the average Abu Dhabi multi-unit residential building.

“We selected C3 because it has the vision, leadership and breadth of solution capability that Masdar City requires to achieve its sustainability goals,” said Alan Frost, director of Masdar City. “The companywas selected after a careful and thorough market and technical analysis of energy resource management solutions.”

Masdar Power is also using C3 to monitor its global portfolio of renewable power projects, including Gemasolar, its 19.9MW CSP plant in Seville, Spain. The software will provide Masdar with invaluable feedback on the sustainability of their wide reaching local and international renewable energy projects.

C3 will be participating at the World Future Energy Summit held in Abu Dhabi from the 16-19 January, 2012.
