Masdar Institute Hosts Orientation Program For Students Of 2011-12 Academic Years

New Batch Of Students Gains Preview Of State-Of-The-Art Research And Laboratory Facilities At Masdar Institute

Members of the top management team, faculty, staff and senior students of Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, an independent, research-driven graduate-level university focused on alternative energy and sustainability, is hosting a four-day orientation program for students of September 2011 intake.

The program that commenced on 5 September aims to familiarize students with the special features and facilities available at Masdar Institute, which will be their home for the next two years.

Dr. Fred Moavenzadeh, President, Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, and Dr. Joe Cecchi, Provost, welcomed the students to the institute.

Dr. Scott Kennedy, Associate Dean for Research, heads of various faculties, and Monika Counts, Director of Student Affairs, additionally briefed the students during the orientation program. Aida Al Busaidy, Manager - Planning, Internal and Online Communications, Masdar, will interact with the students on 7 September.

The newly enrolled students were provided with an overview of all academic programs on offer at Masdar Institute and the focus areas for research. Information on housing and residency policies, and sustainability living was also shared with the newcomers. The program will include visits to major landmarks in the Abu Dhabi emirate.

Masdar Institute received over 2,000 applications from 103 countries for the forthcoming academic intake, demonstrating the strong interest among students for renewable and clean energy technologies. The programs being offered at Masdar Institute incorporate research opportunities in highly specialized subject areas that will empower the students to adequately contribute to the creation and deployment of sustainable lifestyle techniques.
