UK Prime Minister Praises Masdar And The UAE Government At The European Future Energy Forum

Cameron conveys global collaboration and cooperation key to tackling climate change

David Cameron, UK Prime Minister, praised Masdar and the United Arab Emiratesgovernment for its rolein creating the European Future Energy Forum (EFEF),the annual event that fosters collaboration and dialogue among renewable energy business leaders, industry experts, academics and policy makers.During a video address at the opening ceremony of the second annual forum in London, Cameron said:

"Thank you to Masdar and the Government of the United Arab Emirates for creating EFEF.This forum is about how we turn the threat of climate change into the opportunity of low carbon and high growth for all.”

He added: "I’m keen too, that we take every opportunity to learn from the work that other countries are doing, not least Masdar in Abu Dhabi with its revolutionary Masdar City. The forum is a practical expression of the partnership needed to make a low carbon revolution one of the defining legacies of our generation."

EFEFwill run from 19-21 October at the ExCel Conference Centre in London. The forum was developed by Masdar, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mubadala Development Company, to provide an open global platform for collaboration and dialogue. EFEF is also sponsored by the UK government’s international trade promotion arm, UK Trade and Investment.

H.E Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, UAE Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs added:

"The European Future Energy Forum, organised by Masdar, was successful in demonstrating Abu Dhabi’s emergence as a driver for cooperation and dialogue around clean energy solutions and climate change mitigation."

EFEF is part of the Future Energy series of events that includes the World Future Energy Summit held annually at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi. This year’s forum will highlight Abu Dhabi’s growing investment opportunities and its emergence as a global renewable energyhub. The forum brings together the renewable energy and clean technology industry to explore business opportunities, showcase the latest technological solutions and create an environment for discussion among business leaders, industry experts, academics and policy makers.
