ADAC Leads MEBA Conference With A Vision On Airport Conversion Plans And Leading Training Facilities
(17 May 2010)

Representatives from Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) today highlighted at the Middle East Business Aviation Conference(MEBAC) 2010 in Abu Dhabi the importance of meeting current and future market demand through airport development and investment in training.

As the custodian of the Emirate’s five airports, including the Al Bateen Executive Airport, the Middle East’s only dedicated business jet airport, ADAC is well placed to offer insight in strategies for meeting the demands of different market segments.

ADAC’s presentation focused on a case study titled Conversion & Development which discussed the considerable progress Al Bateen has made in attaining GCAA civilian certification and key challenges in its transformation to a leading business aviation airport, as well as growing demand as the airport recently announced a 30% increase in aircraft movements for the first quarter of 2010.

Dr. Othman Al Khouri, Deputy General Manager, GCAS, shared the vision for the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS) and its role in the Middle East airport and aviation industry. Dr. Al Khouri said: “ADAC believes that airport and aviation organisations can only reach their full potential when they invest in their human capital. Having GCAS based at Al Bateen Executive Airport, allows us to offer the theory as well as a good insight into the practice of Airport and aviation operations, and play a key role in developing the future leaders of our industry in the region.”

Ali Al Naqbi, Chairman and Founder of Middle East Business Aviation Authority (MEBAA), said: “Abu Dhabi boasts one of the region’s most dynamic aviation hubs, and ADAC’s redevelopment and expansion plans for its airports show forward thinking and a keen eye on future demand. Al Bateen Executive Airport is a unique facility which is already in great demand, and with the plans to expand and develop its infrastructure the airport will have the capabilities to become the destination for all executive aviation aspects including the MEBA exhibition in 2012.”

ADAC is the Platinum sponsor of the two-day MEBA Conference, which brings together the cream of the business aviation community to tackle important issues within the region, and offers a platform for dialogue and peer knowledge-share.

The conference takes place at the Yas Island Rotana Hotel between 17th and 18th May, 2010.
