With initiation from both the Ministry of Economy and the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi and by leadership from the Department of Health Abu Dhabi for the Health Care Track, the technology and innovation pioneers healthcare award and conference will take place in Abu Dhabi on May 9th where the challenge awards’ winners will be announced.
The first of its kind program in the Middle East will be attended by H.E. Eng. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, H.E. Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State for Advanced Sciences, H.E. Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman, Department of Health-Abu Dhabi and H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Hajri, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi.
TIP conference will also be attended by senior local, regional and global experts and executives in health care along with inventors and innovators from the ecosystem who will discuss key topics related to the advancement of the healthcare system in the UAE and globally. The event will establish a global platform that contributes to the position of UAE as a global center for innovation and medical and scientific research including artificial intelligence and three-dimensional printing.
The Event will start by The AED 3 Million Dirhams awards which received 1,182 applications from across the globe in the categories of patent protection, proof of concept, and Tech start-ups covering prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases and chronic conditions such as asthma, tobacco control and smoking, oral and dental health, occupational and environmental health, diabetes, maternal and infant health, school health, cancer control and other related fields. The winners were selected by a specialized scientific and management committee under highly transparent and impartial criteria, followed by a conference discussing outlooks for the Centennial Plan 2071 for the UAE .
Mr. Khalfan Ahmed AlSuwaidi, Director of International Center of Patent Registration at the Ministry of Economy, stressed the importance of the conference and the award saying: "In line with the UAE Centennial Plan 2071, we embrace the best practices and global innovations in order to bring a brighter future to our society. Today, in coordination with the Department of Economic Development, Abu Dhabi and Department of Health Abu Dhabi, we are building a unique global platform to develop technology and innovation that brings adaptable creativity to the sector.”
He added: “We have selected the 3 categories of patent protection, proof of concept and supporting Tech Start-Ups and as they represent the fundamental pillars of the sector.”
Salem Abdulla BinShabib, Advisor Innovation Incubation and Small & Medium Projects the Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi said: “ Today, we, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Department of Health, Abu Dhabi, are launching the region’s first of its kind integrated platform to embrace the best scientific innovations in the health sector and to create real opportunities for practical implementation in the categories of patent protection, proof of concept and Tech start-ups within the specific medical disciplines. "
BinShabib explained that this initiative adopts a clear approach through an integrated series of meetings, seminars and workshops locally, regionally and globally throughout the year. The participation of the private sector will contribute to relaying the awards’ objectives and mission of the award and help the winners and candidates by expanding the network of participants and beneficiaries overall.
Dr. Asma Al Mannaei, Director, Healthcare Quality Division, Department of Health, Abu Dhabi, highlighted the importance of supporting research and innovation to improve the quality of healthcare services: " This initiative will profoundly complement the efforts of the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi. The awards recognize and support innovators in the health sector who contribute to public health challenges while the conference will be held to exchange international expertise and discuss the latest research in enabling technology and innovation locally, regionally and globally.”
