Abu Dhabi International Airport and Costa Coffee hosted a ceremony to inaugurate the global coffee chain’s 134th store in the UAE. The UK-based coffeehouse is the latest commercial food and beverage offering at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Daniel Cappell, Abu Dhabi Airports Acting Chief Commercial Officer, joined Costa Coffee UAE’s General Manager, Eric Hughes, and Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Zajax alongside airport staff, to officially open the store, which will serve Costa’s handcrafted coffees, delicious indulgent iced drinks along with a large range of freshly prepared food to airport staff and passengers at Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Terminal 3.
“We are delighted to welcome Costa Coffee and its irresistible offerings to Abu Dhabi International Airport. The addition of Costa to our portfolio reflects our commitment to passengers who share our passion for a quality cup of coffee,” said Daniel Cappell.
Costa was founded in London by Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa in 1971 and now represents the second largest international coffee shop operator. At present the company has more than 3,000 stores across UK, Europe, Middle East, India and Asia. Costa Coffee opened its first store outside of the UK in 1999, at Dubai’s Aviation Club. Its 100th Costa Coffee store was opened 14 years later at the World Trade Center Souk in Abu Dhabi. Today there are 134 Costa outlets in the UAE.
Eric Hughes, Costa Coffee UAE, said: “We are delighted to be opening in Terminal 3, where we will be serving passenger and airport staff our full range of handcrafted coffees, iced blended Frostinos and fresh food, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
