Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) announced today that it will be implementing a programme of actions designed to improve parking facilities at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. ADNEC is currently well advanced with the construction of a new hotel and wedding hall complex as well as the two multi-story car parks that, on completion, will be able to accommodate approximately 6,200 vehicles. H.E. Ali Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, ADNEC Managing Director stated, “We are pleased that events at the exhibition centre continue to attract record numbers of visitors. However, although the main centre was completed in September 2008, the new hotels, wedding hall and some aspects of the expanded car parks are still being constructed with final completion scheduled for November 2009. We are aware that some people experienced delays in entering and exiting the centre during the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and regret the difficulties that they encountered. Steps are being taken to minimise the inconvenience caused by the ongoing construction.” The programme will include the activation of additional elevators as well as the opening of new entrances. Extra car park staff will be deployed to assist visitors and it is planned that new directional signage will soon be installed around Abu Dhabi to assist people to get to the venue and access the new car parks as swiftly and conveniently as possible. In the longer-term, planned changes to the surrounding road infrastructure will also greatly improve vehicle access. ADNEC is recognised as one of the fastest constructed and most modern exhibition centres in the world. Both Phase One and Phase Two were completed on schedule.
