Middle East Office of Academic Regulation & Examination (MEOARE) undertook an institutional review of leading universities across the Middle East region. The review was conducted to monitor, evaluate and identify the challenges which need to be addressed for the development of higher education sector. MEOARE conducted the review on university’s academic program, research provision, academic standards and quality of higher education which they offer. All universities in the Middle East region are subject to reviews on timely basis.
MEOARE has set out a quality assurance framework which ensures that the higher education sector and universities across the Middle East region are fully equipped and updated to play a leading role in the economic development of the region. According to the MEOARE spokesperson, “MEOARE conducts quarterly quality assurance reviews of educational institutions and universities, to monitor their quality and standards. As an entrusted higher education quality assurance body, we ensure that we conduct this review in a highly fair, impartial and transparent manner, with subject to public interest. MEOARE periodic reviews help universities become more aligned and consistent to higher education regulatory framework.”
Quality assurance is an important regulatory function of MEOARE, which ensures that the universities in the Middle East region meet the higher education standards, and adhere to the regulatory actions and conditions set out by MEOARE. The review will bring together experts and our board members to explore and understand how higher education quality systems and structure can be strengthened and how universities across the Middle East region can become more confident about quality monitoring and public interest.
Higher education institutions and universities may also acquire the information they need to enhance their academic program quality and standard, and how to maintain their own internal quality assurance system, improving the quality of higher education and promoting transparency and trust among students, systems and within the sector.
The spokesperson further added that, “MEOARE critically evaluated universities and ensure that they take our recommendations forward, streamlining their higher education structure and system according to the acceptable standards. After the final review and recommendations, our board members also advise these universities about how to enhance quality and improve learning outcomes.”
