Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has extended its Breast Cancer Awareness campaign to guests and employees at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Etihad Airways cabin crew wearing pink uniforms distributed pink ribbon pins and information leaflets with breast cancer prevention advice to guests, employees and local authorities in the Terminal 3 departures area of Abu Dhabi Airport.
Coordinated by the Etihad Airways Medical Centre, the initiatives are part of the airline’s wider efforts to promote breast cancer awareness among employees and in the community, particularly during October.
In partnership with the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi and Lifeline Hospital Group, the Etihad Airways Medical Centre is also hosting a mobile breast cancer mammography screening unit for employees and employees’ wives over 40. In addition, all female employees, regardless of age, can get a free consultation at a breast cancer awareness drop-in clinic operating at the centre.
Other initiatives to mark the month and raise funds include a staff competition, bake sales, wristband sales, educational lectures, newsletters and updates through Etihad Airways’ intranet site. The airline also supported a ‘Pink Plunge Abu Dhabi’ bungee jumping event organised by Breast Cancer Arabia at Emirates Palace, the annual ‘Pink Polo’ event at Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club, and the Pink Lady Golf Day at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
