Department Of Finance (DoF) - Abu Dhabi To Showcase Its Latest Electronic Systems At GITEX Technology Week 2014
(8 October 2014)

The Department of Finance (DoF) – Abu Dhabi is set to showcase a number of its latest e-systems at GITEX Technology Week 2014, which is taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 12 to16.

DoF will be demonstrating a range of electronic systems including its ADERP, Military Retirement, Customs Operations (Dhabi) systems and Military Retirement Service over mobile, in addition to the Custom Mobile Smart Application during its participation at GITEX Technology Week at the Abu Dhabi Government’s stand.

HE Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi, Chairman of DoF, outlined the Department’s continuous efforts to improve public services by consolidating and evolving systems in line with smart government initiatives. HE said: “Throughout GITEX, we will demonstrate DoF’s latest smart government resources management initiatives that will ensure seamless improvements and the evolution of Abu Dhabi’s public services.”

HE added: “DoF understands the value and role of information technology in strengthening the safety, security and economic prosperity of the local community and we will continue to develop our IT infrastructure in order to build a fully integrated financial and customs system which supports Abu Dhabi’s ongoing growth.”

The Abu Dhabi Shared Enterprise Resource Planning (ADERP) will ensure the convergence of financial systems to create efficiency and accuracy in financial management. By integrating financial data, financial reports, the development and implementation of the general budget and subsidiary systems such as salaries, purchases and government assets, ADERP will create effective, coordinated and centralised working processes that improve financial planning and management across the emirate .

The Customs Operations System (Dhabi) is a fully integrated platform, which provides alerts about all incoming shipments through various Abu Dhabi ports (land, sea and air) and connects all ports in prompt and timely manner. The Dhabi system has set a new benchmark amongst several local and regional authorities, which are using the platform as a reference for their customs operations work.

The military retirement system offers leading electronic services that allow military retirees and their beneficiaries to review monthly pension details, and conduct detailed review of their pension and related settlements. The system also offers a direct respond service which provides clear and quick answers to all military retirees’ enquiries.

The Custom Mobile Smart Application, which is in its first phase, provides information about various customs procedures, along with an interactive map of all Abu Dhabi customs posts. The app is also a platform for customers to communicate with the General Directorate of Customs with their suggestions and enquiries. In the second phase, DoF will enable customers to enquire about the status of any customs applications inspection requests, guarantee refund requests and registration requests and receive information about several smart services.

Last February, the DoF –Abu Dhabi hosted its first forum on the Abu Dhabi Government ERP System (ADERP), providing insight into the latest updates on the system and offering participants an opportunity to meet and exchange knowledge and experience with system users from government entities, as well as review the latest developments in shared technology government services.
