The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) is seeking the country’s most promising talent at the Careers UAE event this week, with the aim of recruiting the best and brightest Emiratis to join the UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy program.
Running from 22-24 April at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Careers UAE provides UAE nationals with a platform to interact with recruiters and hiring managers from the country’s leading employers, exposing them to a wide range of educational, training and career opportunities.
ENEC is committed to developing the next generation of nuclear energy leaders, and by 2020, will need around 2000 employees to operate its four nuclear energy plants. Talented Emirati nationals will play an important role in achieving this goal, with ENEC’s current Emiratization rate at almost 68 per cent.
ENEC’s Energy Pioneers program aims to attract and develop the country’s most gifted science students, engineering graduates and experienced professionals and provide them with an opportunity to become pioneers of the emerging nuclear energy sector. The program is crucial in building a national skill base to staff the UAE’s nuclear energy industry, and help power the future growth of the nation.
“The UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy program is one of the most ambitious and exciting projects undertaken by the UAE in the last 40 years, and the development of a skilled and dedicated workforce is critical to its success,” said Mohamed Al Hammadi, Chief Executive Officer at ENEC.
“To achieve this, ENEC offers a range of scholarships and career opportunities across various fields, to ensure the most promising Emiratis are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to be at the forefront of this dynamic new industry.”
Since its launch in 2009, ENEC’s Energy Pioneers program has seen widespread interest with Emirati nationals, and to date, ENEC sponsors almost 300 students under the UAE Nuclear Energy Scholarships Program across three streams - the Higher Diploma of Nuclear Technology, the Bachelor’s Degree, and the Masters Degree program.
Developed in partnership with leading local and world-class international universities and institutions, the scholarship program provides the specialized knowledge and practical experience required for candidates to join the nuclear energy industry as a qualified technician or engineer.
ENEC is committed to providing safe, reliable, clean and efficient nuclear energy to the UAE and is leading the construction of the UAE’s first nuclear energy plants, which are located in Barakah, in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi.
A total of four nuclear energy plants will be constructed by 2020, pending regulatory approvals. The first two plants are already under construction, with the first plant scheduled to commence commercial operations in 2017, pending further regulatory approvals.
