Children Learn First-Hand About Health And Nutrition At Etihad Airways Community Football Week
(1 April 2014)

Health and nutrition advice was on the menu last week, as well as football tips from Manchester City FC coaches, as more than 500 children took part in the Etihad Airways Community Football Week in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Four community coaches from MCFC visited schools in the emirate teaching children about the benefits of having a healthy lifestyle and how football and regular exercise can play a big part in achieving that goal.

The coaches visited the Future Center Abu Dhabi to work with young people as well as Al Ain International School, Al Mushrif School, Al Bateen Secondary School and The British International School Abu Dhabi.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “This is the fifth year that we have hosted the community week and we were delighted by the response to the new focus on health and wellbeing.

“Our partnership with Manchester City FC meant that the children learnt about the importance of healthy living from the football industry’s top coaches which they’ll take away and hopefully build into their lives.”

Mike Green, Head of the Club’s Foundation, City in the Community, commented: “It’s been a fantastic experience for our coaching team to visit Al Ain and Abu Dhabi. By sharing our high quality health and activity sessions already being delivered in Manchester, we can continue to empower lives and create opportunities through football.”
