The Emirates Palace launched yesterday its first world class Golf championship at a glittering Ceremony graced by golf stars and sportsmen from the UAE and other golf loving countries. Addressing the sports audience, General Manager of Emirates Palace Hans Olbertz said the tournament which took place at Abu Dhabi Golf Club on Thursday will be staged yearly as part of the Hotel’s drive to promote the game and attract top local and global golfers to Abu Dhabi. He told the award-giving ceremony held at the hotel; "The Emirates Palace is committed to interacting with the local sports community and is seeking to attract champions and lovers of the game from the world to Abu Dhabi." Olbertz then honoured the winning team at a colourful gala attended by prominent businessmen, leaders of the golf sports, top managers of the hotel and senior officials of the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The first Emirates Palace Golf Championship was flavoured with an array of colorful sports and recreational events, the most important of them were the VVIP reception. During the function which was attended by top clients of the hotel: CEO’s, Presidents and Managing directors, Olbertz delivered a message of tribute to those valuable and caliber clients for their continuing support to the hotel. He also gave a video presentation on the unique advantages, strengths and features which propelled the Abu Dhabi iconic property to the elite club of the worlds most luxurious hotels. He briefed the audience about the upcoming cultural and musical events the hotel will host up to the end of the year. Christian Holzel, Manager of Snow Golf in Austria, said the launch of the annual golf championship by the Emirates Palace would, no doubt, contribute to efforts aimed at making the prestigious sports more popular among members of the community. "We are extremely delighted at participating in this tournament," he added.
