In line with its efforts to support eco friendly initiatives and sustainability projects, First Gulf Bank (FGB), one of the major leading banks in the UAE, participated in the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2014 for the second consecutive year. During the Summit last year, the bank launched the UAE’s first eco friendly Credit Card in association with Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company. FGB’s Masdar Credit Card has been well received by customers to date.

The First Gulf Bank Masdar Card allows members of the community to become more involved in different environmental and sustainability initiatives. The product falls in line within a series of socially geared products that FGB has developed which address environment, health, education and sports as well.

Huda Abdullah, Executive Vice President at FGB said: “We launched the First Gulf Bank Masdar Credit Card last year stemming from our passion towards the environment and we wanted to encourage UAE residents to take an active role in supporting eco-friendly initiatives. This reinforces our belief that the UAE’s community is a conscious one that appreciates the environment and is interested in supporting efforts to protect it. Our government is pioneering efforts to position the UAE as a global environmental leader and we are playing our part in supporting these efforts.”

Offered in Infinite and Platinum premium categories, the product is made out of eco friendly material. For every purchase made by the customer using this credit card, FGB will automatically contribute on behalf of the customer up to 0.6% of the transaction value towards a fund that will support environmental and sustainable projects all year round.

Furthermore, the card offers an exclusive First Green Rewards loyalty programme. The programme allows cardholders to earn up to 1.5 First Green points for every dirham spent and can be redeemed against a variety of eco-friendly products or green merchants. In addition to all these features, the card also offers infinite and platinum benefits which include Hilton Honors Gold Memberships, Global Airport lounge access, and global discounts at Harrods and many other features.
