For any budding young tennis star, the chance to play with the likes of Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic would be a dream come true. Thanks to the Mubadala Community Cup that dream is one step closer as players across the UAE are in with a chance to win a spot in exclusive star player tennis clinics during the Mubadala World Tennis Championship. Entry to the annual Mubadala Community Cup is free, and tennis enthusiasts can sign up before October 24th. Event organisers are urging fans to sign up early at www.mubadalawtc.com to avoid disappointment.
This year’s Mubadala Community Cup starts on November 8th in Abu Dhabi where players aged eight and over will compete for glory in their age group. The eventual winner, runners-up and lucky raffle picks from each group will meet their tennis heroes on court during the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, 26th – 28th December. Community Cup events will be held in locations across Abu Dhabi and Dubai on the 8th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd November 2013.
The bar is set to be raised higher than ever this year when the Mubadala Community Cup’s first ever inter-Emirate play-off puts the pride of the nation at stake. Winners from Abu Dhabi will take on winners from Dubai during the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in December where the UAE’s ultimate Community Cup Champion will be crowned.
Mubadala World Tennis Championship Ambassador Pat Cash gave fans in the UAE a taste of what is to come for Mubadala Community Cup winners when he held his own tennis clinic last week at Yas Marina Circuit. The former Grand Slam Champion commented:
“I’ve had the pleasure of getting out and about in the community in Abu Dhabi and meeting tennis fans and players of all ages. For any of them, playing with one of the best guys in the world right now would be a dream. I’ve seen the community programs around the Mubadala World Tennis Championship really come to life this last week and the opportunities the tournament gives budding young players to develop their skills and their passion are fantastic. I’m looking forward to seeing some Mubadala Community Cup action on centre court come December!”
An inspirational community initiative, the Mubadala Community Cup is now in its sixth year. Taking place across November, players at each event will compete to secure one of only 60 spots at one of four exclusive star player clinics during the three day Championship. Open to all ages from eight years through to adults, player fields are divided in to five age groups; Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16 and adults’ mixed doubles, with an emphasis on developing young players. A round-robin format gives each competitor at least two matches, with the winners of each pool going through to the next rounds for their chance to take home the ultimate prize.
The annual Mubadala World Tennis Championship will take place from 26th to 28th December 2013 at the Abu Dhabi International Tennis Complex, Zayed Sports City. This year boasts the Championship’s strongest ever line up with Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, David Ferrer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Stanislas Wawrinka all vying for victory.
