Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), master developer of major tourism, cultural and residential destinations in Abu Dhabi, hosted the award-winning author and internationally acclaimed leadership expert Deepak Chopra for a visit to Saadiyat. Chopra was in Abu Dhabi for an inspirational workshop held at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort on September 18, 2013.
On his first trip to Abu Dhabi, Chopra visited the Saadiyat Story on Manarat Al Saadiyat, an art and exhibition centre which showcases the major existing and upcoming projects on the island. “This is my first time in Abu Dhabi and it’s quite astonishing what I see here. I don’t think there’s any place like this in the world,” he said. “I think the Saadiyat vision embodies really two things: cultural heritage, history and post-modern, futuristic at the same time. It’s an amazing combination.”
The workshop, called The Soul of Leadership after Chopra’s best-selling book, was attended by around 500 CEOs and Executives. The event saw participants learn a deeper understanding of their leadership potential that could ultimately help them change the way they lead. He offered a new approach to the exciting possibilities of leadership, incorporating the combination of spiritual wisdom with modern dynamic psychology.
Chopra, who’s one of American’s most famous alternative medicine practitioners, is the author of over 71 books, 21 of which are New York best sellers. During the workshop, Chopra talked about visionary leadership, listening skills, emotional bonding, team building, and how to create smart roles.
“The meanings, the contexts, the relationships, the dreams, the memories, the archetypal stories that come from the past all go into creating this leader and their imagination is then triggered by the collective consciousness and they use it to manifest the collective dream. So it’s not a personal dream, it’s a collective dream which is what we’re seeing here [on Saadiyat],” he added during his visit to the island.
Saadiyat has today become an attraction to visitors from around the world and from different walks of life due to its diverse cultural, hospitality, and leisure offerings. The island has welcomed artists, politicians, students, and celebrity guests.
