The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, participates in National Career Exhibition at Expo Centre Sharjah from 20th to 22nd February, on its ongoing strategy to attract, retain and develop top UAE talents.
H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, visited NBAD’s stand and was welcomed by Abdulla M.S. AbdulRaheem, the Deputy Group Chief Executive of NBAD, Khalaf Sultan Bin Rashed Al Dhaheri, the Group Chief Operating Officer, and other senior executives of the bank.
“Our long-term Emiratisation strategy is in line with NBAD’s expansion plan and meets the demand for top UAE talents,” said Ehab Anis Hassan, the Group Chief Human Resources Officer at NBAD. “The National Career Exhibition is an ideal platform to meet with potential Emirati employees and introduce career opportunities available at NBAD.”
During the career fair, the Bank will offer onsite interviews to the candidates. It will also bring representatives from different divisions to give insight into division and address all kinds of queries about career opportunities at NBAD.
NBAD has launched several Emiratisation initiatives to develop and maximise the potentials of Emiratis in different stages. For instance, under the AFAQ Management trainee Programme, NBAD sponsors a Master’s degree in Finance by recruiting fresh university graduates who exhibit great motivation and the potential to grow into future leaders.
The recruits complete post graduate certificate which is equivalent to half of the Master’s requirement in the first year by studying fulltime at the academy. During this period, they receive full employment salary. After the first year, AFAQ recruits are assigned to their permanent position. While they work fulltime, they continue studying part-time toward the completion of the Master’s Degree.
The Bank also offers UAE national staff Al Sadara programme where they can study for a Masters in International Business and gain work experience simultaneously.
In addition, NBAD offers High School graduates the chance to pursue a career path at Branches or Departments while offering to them excellent training at NBAD Academy through enrolling them to Al Bedaya program. Successfully completing 12 months, Al- Bedaya program trainees will gain associate degree in banking and finance.
In 2011, NBAD launched Tomouh to sponsor young UAE nationals who demonstrate exceptional academic achievements to pursue bachelor degrees at prestigious international universities. The Bank also sponsors enrolled university students by paying a monthly allowance through Mustaqbali program. The UAE nationals in these programs are guaranteed internship and recruitment upon graduation.
“Our Emiratisation initiatives are designed to equip youth with the knowledge and develop their skills to meet the market demand for qualified Emiratis,” explained Amani Al Khaledi, the Head of Emiratization at NBAD.
She added: “The Bank has increased Emiratisation from 30% in 2008 to 37% by end of 2012. This year we aim to raise Emiratisation rate and recruit over 100 UAE nationals”.
In recognition of its achievements, NBAD has won a number of awards and recognitions for its Emiratisation programs. The Bank has won the Human Resources Development Award in Banking Sector in 2004 and 2009; and Michael H. Tomalin, the Group Chief Executive of NBAD, has won the Best Emiratisation CEO Award from Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS) in 2010 and 2012.
