The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, participates in Tawdheef Career Fair which is being held in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 29th to 31st January, in its ongoing drive to attract and retain top UAE talents.
“Emiratization is a top priority and Tawdheef is one of UAE’s major recruitment events that offer exclusive access to pool of talents and individuals with skills most sought after by employers,” said Ehab Anis Hassan, the Group Chief Human Resources Officer at NBAD.
During the career fair, NBAD will offer onsite interviews to the candidates. It will also bring representatives from different divisions such as Call Centre and Risk Management to give insight into division and career available opportunities .
“NBAD offers numerous career opportunities for fresh graduates and experienced jobseekers who are interested in building successful career at the UAE’s most reputable financial organization,” said Amani Al Khaledi, the Head of Emiratization at NBAD. “Our participation in Tawdheef 2013 is to promote these opportunities as well as Emiratization programs which are aimed to hire, develop and retain high potentials,” she added.
NBAD has launched several initiatives to develop and maximize the potentials of Emiratis in different stages. For instance, under the AFAQ Management trainee Program, NBAD sponsors a Master’s degree in Finance by recruiting fresh university graduates who exhibit great motivation and the potential to grow into future leaders.
The recruits complete post graduate certificate which is equivalent to half of the Master’s requirement in the first year by studying fulltime at the academy. During this period, they receive full employment salary. After the first year, AFAQ recruits are assigned to their permanent position. While they work fulltime, they continue studying part-time toward the completion of the Master’s Degree.
The Bank also offers UAE national staff Al Sadara program where they can study for a Masters in International Business and gain work experience simultaneously.
In addition, NBAD offers high school graduates the chance to pursue a career path at branches or departments while offering to them excellent training at NBAD Academy through enrolling them to Al Bedaya program. Successfully completing 12 months, Al- Bedaya program trainees will gain associate degree in banking and finance.
In 2011, NBAD launched Tomouh to sponsor young UAE nationals who demonstrate exceptional academic achievements to pursue bachelor degrees at prestigious international universities. The Bank also sponsors enrolled university students by paying a monthly allowance through Mustaqbali program. The UAE nationals in these programmes are guaranteed internship and recruitment upon graduation.
“Our Emiratization initiatives are designed to equip youth with the knowledge and develop their skills to meet the market demand for qualified Emiratis,” explained Ms. Al Khaledi.
She added, “This year we aim to raise Emiratization rate and recruit over 100 UAE nationals”.
In recognition of its achievements, NBAD has won a number of awards and accolades for its Emiratization programs. The Bank has won the Human Resources Development Award in Banking Sector in 2004 and 2009; and Michael H. Tomalin, the Group Chief Executive of NBAD, has won the Best Emiratization CEO Award from Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS) in 2010 and 2012.
