The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), the Number One Bank in the UAE, has made Abu Dhabi’s first Corporate Games possible as a Gold sponsor and participant in the races to be held November 23 and 24, 2012.
The Abu Dhabi Corporate Games aims to promote team building, corporate pride and encourage healthy lifestyle among employees.
The games feature 11 sport competitions: badminton, bowling, basketball, cricket, Football, golf, karting, running, shooting, table tennis, and tennis. The games will take place in various venues in Abu Dhabi such as Zayed Sports City, Al Forsan International Sports Resort and Zayed Cricket Stadium.
“NBAD is committed to enhance the quality of life in Abu Dhabi and to increase cultural and recreational activities,” says May Bumajeed, the Deputy Head of Corporate Communication Department at NBAD. “Fitness and wellbeing is an essential element of an employee’s productivity. Through sports, staff will have sustained energy throughout the day which will help them to stay energised and attentive to bring the best of themselves into the workplace.”
She adds: “Sport activities also help them to stay in shape, reduce work anxiety and protect them from sickness through boosting their body immunity. In addition to physical wellbeing, the Abu Dhabi’s Corporate Games offers our employees the chance to meet outside the workplace and to socialize with participants from different firms”.
Held annually since 1988 in San Francisco, the Corporate Games has become the largest multi-sport festival for corporate competition in the world. H.E. Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, is a patron of the Abu Dhabi Corporate Games.
The games attract more than 2500 teams and individuals representing private and government companies from Abu Dhabi and outside the UAE. It allows male and female athletes, including handicaps, of different ages and abilities to participate in the competition.
“These games allow staff to boost team spirit, develop leadership skills and strengthen their relationship,” says Ms. Bumajeed.
The opening ceremony took place on November 21 at Zayed Sports City.
