NMC and Cincinnati Children’s Announce Collaboration
NMC Healthcare and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (Cincinnati Children’s) have entered into a collaborative agreement that brings Cincinnati Children’s highly specialized paediatric surgeons to offer life-saving and life-enhancing surgeries to the children of the UAE at NMC Royal Hospital in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi. The two institutions have been in discussions since the summer of 2016. “This collaboration between NMC and Cincinnati Children’s is a landmark agreement for UAE healthcare as children from the country who had been travelling abroad for surgical treatments and follow ups due to the unavailability of such services in UAE may soon be able to undergo these treatments close to their homes under the caring eyes of their families and friends,” said Prasanth Manghat, CEO – NMC Healthcare, on the occasion.
Dr. Daniel von Allmen, Surgeon-in-Chief and Senior Vice President at Cincinnati Children’s added, “We are excited about the future healthcare options for the children and families of UAE who require complex surgical procedures. The NMC and Cincinnati Children’s collaboration is the first step in building in-country paediatric surgical capabilities and improving the outcomes for the children of UAE.”
The collaboration combines NMC’s in-depth knowledge of the UAE patient demographics with the cutting edge medical expertise of Cincinnati Children’s in paediatric care. Cincinnati Children’s was ranked No. 3 in the Honor Roll of top paediatric hospitals by the U.S. News & World Report for the seventh consecutive year in 2017-18. The hospital is ranked among the top 5 in seven paediatric sub-specialties including Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology and Orthopedics among others.
Surgeons from Cincinnati Children’s will be speaking alongside NMC doctors at the 4th International Paediatric Conference in Abu Dhabi on October 13th, and will present advanced surgical techniques used to perform complicated Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Plastic Surgery, Colorectal Surgery and General Surgery cases that occur more frequently among paediatric patients in the region. Post the conference, clinical and administrative teams from NMC and Cincinnati Children’s will begin planning for the first surgical visit to NMC Royal Hospital, expected to take place in early 2018. The clinical teams from both institutions will place a high degree of focus on patient safety and quality outcomes for the children of the UAE.
Adding to his comments, Prasanth Manghat, CEO, NMC Healthcare said: “In line with the UAE’s healthcare goals, we endeavor to consistently invest in collaborations bringing technologies and medical program to provide constant support to our communities. It is our mission to lead the healthcare industry and provide best in class services to the residents of the UAE and the GCC region at large.”
